Hi everyone,

Hi GitHub Education team,

I submitted my application for the GitHub Student Developer Pack 9 days ago,
but my application status is still "pending" with no update.

Could someone please help check the status of my application or advise
on next steps?

Hey heysignal,

That might actually be common since they have to manually check your school lol. But if it's past 2 weeks that would be a big concern.

A few options if you can't wait, you can try I think

1. Go to your application and reupload better proof
2. Contact GitHub Education (not general support)

Don't stress too much, I would just use other free models since there are so many and you can find it on here Openrouter. Copilot student has limited usage anyway and no premium models.

Weirdly enough, I have been rejected for the first 2 minutes too and it works by reapplying with a clearer photo, and a proper file/proof. Also while your application is pending that's what happened to me too for 4 days till I was verified.

What likely happened to you nosignal was:

1. First rejection (2 minutes):
   Automatic system rejection because of unclear document, no visible date, no or bad proof of current enrollment

2. Second application (pending 10 days now):
   You passed auto-check and are now in manual review queue and it's actually a good sign
   3–7 days → normal, 7–14 days → common, 14+ days → follow up with them

Here's what you can do right now though:

1. Contact GitHub Education
   Don’t use general GitHub support — use education support:
   Go to https://support.github.com/ and Click “Contact support” -> Education OR Student Developer Pack
   And send them this

2. Is to wait till the 14 days till they deny/verify/approve

If they reject you again, use this type of document:
Best proof (fast approval)
Official class schedule (PDF)
Enrollment verification letter
Tuition receipt with:
Your name
School name
Current date
Avoid these (common rejection causes)
Blurry student ID
No expiration/enrollment date
Cropped screenshots
Old documents

GitHub approves students from Chinese universities for the GitHub Student Developer Pack, but verification can be difficult due to document formatting and language. Success often requires using official English-language enrollment proofs, such as a student portal screenshot or a tuition receipt, rather than only a Chinese-language ID book.

When I entered: https://support.github.com/contact/education, and selected the response for the status of applying for GitHub Education (student), it showed "Manual review and status updates are no longer provided separately." I can only check the application status and cannot give feedback to the official.

9 days is still within normal range. Manual review typically runs 7-14 days, so you're not at the point of concern yet.

One thing worth doing right now: go to support.github.com, click Contact Support, and select GitHub Education or Student Developer Pack as the topic. Send a short message with your application submission date and ask for a status check. Keep the message simple, something like: "I submitted my GitHub Student Developer Pack application on [date] and the status has been pending for 9 days. Could you let me know if additional documentation is needed?"

Don't resubmit while the application is pending, that can reset your position in the review queue.

If you hit 14 days with no update, follow up on that same ticket rather than opening a new one.

I just checked on April 20 and saw that my application went through! It’s been 23 days since I first applied — though I’m not sure exactly when it got approved.
