Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get my account verified but it keeps failing? I've given all my data to github and the application keeps failing.

As for the document I'm uploading I literally have the appointment letter signed by the dean and it doesn't seem to be working? It's a pdf (which the system rejects) for which I've already tried uploading a screenshot and a photo of the printed version, both rejected.

Might be a language issue since it's in Spanish?

Idk what else to try. There doesn't seem to be support staff to handle this right?

This is probably not a Spanish-language issue. GitHub’s docs say denied applications usually need a clear image showing current academic status and at least one visible date. They list school ID, class schedule, transcript, or an enrollment/affiliation letter as acceptable proof

So the best next step is to reapply with a clear JPG/PNG image of the document section that shows your name, institution, and current date, rather than the PDF itself. If that still fails, try the GitHub Support portal, since GitHub does have support even though ticket access can be limited for some accounts.

I have tried that and it's still being rejected, in fact I tried again 5 minutes ago and it's the same.

If that still fails, try the GitHub Support portal, since GitHub does have support even though ticket access can be limited for some accounts.

The ticket system explicitly states that they don't provide support in applying to the program, that we should seek help here. In fact someone else below tried emailing them for this same reason and was rejected.

Thanks for clarifying. If you’ve already retried with a clear JPG/PNG and Support is redirecting you back to the community, then this probably needs a manual review from the GitHub Education side.

So at this point, I’d suggest adding a comment with:

you applied as Faculty
exactly which document you used
confirmation that it shows your name, institution, and current date
and that both the original PDF and clear image reuploads were rejected

That should make it easier for a GitHub Education moderator or staff member to tell you whether the issue is the document type itself or something wrong in the verification flow. The docs still point applicants to both the community and Contact support, so if support is bouncing you back here, a staff/community follow-up is probably the only realistic next step.

Summing up the issue I am being rejected by the system when trying to verify my account:

1. I tried applying as faculty to the program, checked my application and made sure to fix all issues raised by the system.
2. Regarding the document to provide evidence that I'm a teacher I have the letter of appointment signed by the dean.
3. Said document clearly states my name, the institution, the position, the duration of the appointment including starting and finishing dates, and the date the document was signed plus the credentials of the dean.
4. Finally, since the system doesn't allow you to upload PDFs I tried with both screenshots and photos of the printed document, and they were all rejected.

Update: as of today still no answer

Tried to open a ticket under a different topic as suggested here https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/191325 but I haven't got a reply yet
